Jefferson County Schools Leads the Way in Human Resources

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. (May 2, 2018) — Jefferson County Schools’ Chief Human Resources Officer, Joseph Pettiford, was chosen to present at the TalentEdge 2018 Conference recently in Kansas City, Missouri, where more than 200 K-12 human resources professionals from across the country were in attendance.


The presentation titled, “The Looming Leadership Gap—and How to Address It,” addressed how school districts can best prepare to mitigate the impending loss of institutional knowledge and experience when baby boomers begin to retire, and how to develop the next generation of K-12 leaders.


“I am grateful for the amazing opportunity to share the tools, insights and developments Jefferson County Schools utilizes to raise up leadership within our school system,” Pettiford said. “Speaking alongside the other esteemed panelists solidified how our hard work in the county is gaining nationwide recognition.”


Jefferson County Schools was honored to have Pettiford chosen to represent the best practices in recruitment and retention after progressing through a very selective, invitation-only selection process for speakers. Speakers for the TalentEdge Conference are nominated and then selected if they are proven innovative thinkers, recognized thought-leaders and highly knowledgeable.
