Dr. Seuss/Read Across America Celebrated

Preparing Lorax Oranges at PJES

Dr. Seuss' birthday and Read Across America were celebrated this week throughout many of the Jefferson County Elementary Schools. The cooks at Page Jackson Elementary prepared oranges to resemble the Lorax, while Ranson hosted guest readers and sent each student home with a free book.

South Jefferson Elementary celebrated "Read Across America" in style, starting with the Special Events' creative decorating of our entire school. Students walked into the door and were transported to a "Seussical" wonderland! We celebrated the "places we've been", dressed up as twins, a la Thing 1 and Thing 2 from "Cat in the Hat", wore crazy socks in honor of "Fox in Socks" and we shared our favorite books with our friends on Friendship Friday. A special thank you to our visitors who came to read to us this week as well as all of our staff and students who celebrated Dr. Seuss throughout the week.
