CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - West Virginia’s seventh poet laureate, Marc Harshman, was at Washington High School (WHS) toward the end of September.
Harshman was in Shepherdstown for the Appalachian Heritage Writer-in-Residence events this month and took time out to visit with students.
Along with a poetry reading for about 200 juniors and seniors taking AP courses in literature and language, Harshman also conducted a writer’s workshop for creative writing students.
According to the University, Harshman took his storytelling and poetry talents into public schools in the greater Eastern Panhandle region for a series of workshops funded by the Appalachian Heritage Writer-in-Residence project.
Harshman also spoke to students at Wright Denny Intermediate School as part of the program.
