Charles Town, W.Va. – There was quite a crowd Monday night as two Jefferson County Schools employees were recognized for their outstanding work with the October 2019 One Jefferson Award.
Washington High School teacher Barbara Zingg received the professional award for her work in and out of the classroom.
She was nominated for her work to continually improve her teaching by participating in on-line learning, teaching seminars on various teaching methods and resources, or reading dozens of books on teaching methods.
It was said that Mrs. Zingg also researches each of her students previous years of math success or difficulty in order to find where they may need specific help to succeed in her current class, and is in constant communication with the parents of her students.
The service award went to Susie Nicodemus, and Aide at Wildwood Middle School, where Principal Jenifer Moss had one word to describe working with her – WOW!
Ms Moss said that Ms. Nicodemus was committed to engaging with students and the content,
She is described as patient, kind, helpful, thoughtful, and dependable.
Ms. Moss said that as a new principal, it was very helpful to discuss instructional strategies with Ms. Nicodemus and get feedback from her.
The One Jefferson Award is given to a professional and service person each month.
