Communicating During Inclement Weather

Communicating During Inclement Weather
Posted on 01/06/2020

Everyone seems to be ready for spring now that we've started the New Year, but the potential for winter weather is still lingering for a few more months. Although the weather is often unpredictable, Jefferson County Schools knows you need information as soon as possible. That's why we are continuing to find new ways to communicate critical information.
We decide to delay or close schools when it is unsafe to transport students. Jefferson County Schools will always error on the side of caution when it comes to the safety of students and staff. Once a decision is made, you will likely get a call from Mr. White offering the latest information. You can also receive text alerts with the JCS Text Messaging Service. To sign up, simply text "Y" or "Yes" to 67587 from any cell phone registered with one of our schools.
Updates are posted on Facebook and the Jefferson County Schools, WV, App that you may download on Android and Apple devices. Detailed explanations about the decision are on the Jefferson County Schools Website, www.jcswv.org. And don't forget to tune in to local radio and television stations if you are away from a phone or computer.
We will make every effort to let you know what's happening when winter weather is in the forecast. Safety remains our primary concern. Thank you for working with us to stay informed and keep our students safe!
