ATLANTA, Ga. – A student from Washington High School recently places at the 2018 Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) U.S. National Championship in Atlanta, Georgia.  Michael Lesznar finished in the top 10, placing 7th overall for Word.

WHS student Michael LesznarCertiport, a company that provides certification exam development, delivery, and program management services, held the competition. Students put their skills on Microsoft Office applications to the test with a test Lesznar said was difficult to prepare for.

We were given a test unlike any of the practice tests. My task for Word 2016 was to recreate a document from scratch, so it was a true test of ability instead of memorization,” he said in an email after the competition.

There were more than 350,000 total entrants and 147 finalists from across the country. Lesznar placed first in West Virginia.  He said in an email he was fortunate to have had the opportunity and thanked some of his teachers at Washington High.

I have the Washington High School business department to thank for my experience. All of my teachers helped me develop computer skills to get this far.”

The national competition took place in Georgia from June 13 – 16, 2018. The first place champions will head to Orlando, Florida for the MOS World Championship from July 29 – August 1, 2018.
