FEBRUARY 26 & 27
Jefferson County Schools will be closed Monday, February 26, 2018 and Tuesday, February 27, 2018 in response to planned work stoppages out of concern for student safety. We have insufficient staffing to safely care for Jefferson students. These days will be added to the instructional calendar barring any state waiver of currently applicable calendar laws. Thus, they will be made up on Monday, June 4th and Tuesday, June 5th.
The West Virginia State Board of Education meets Tuesday night regarding the possibility of a statewide legal action. We will make an announcement regarding Wednesday after reviewing any relevant legal update from the state. Certainly should any agreement take place prior to these closures that affect our ability to hold school we will reassess and notify the public immediately. We thank the public and our staff for their conscientiousness in respecting the diversity of opinions present during such a complex debate.
The Monday, February 26, 2018 School Board meeting will be held as scheduled at 7pm at the Board Office.
