If you wish to register an elementary school student in the Jefferson Virtual Academy Program for the 2021-2022 school year, please complete the following form.*


Rising sixth grade students must register with their middle school directly.

Security Measure
Students must meet the following criteria to receive instruction through the JVA Program.

1. Successful completion (passing grades) on all previous virtual courses taken through Jefferson Virtual Academy (JVA) or West Virginia Virtual School (WVVS) and have a minimum 2.5 Grade Point Average.*
2. Reliable Internet service.
3. The Jefferson County Board of Education recognizes that a direct relationship exists between students' daily school attendance and academic performance, graduation, and good work habits. Daily attendance is necessary for students to meet their schools' academic program standards as each day's learning builds on the work previously completed.  
4. The camera must remain on during Live lessons and assessments. Students may use a virtual or blurred background if desired.
5. A clear channel of communication between students, caregivers, and teachers must be maintained. All elementary students must have adult supervision to support the student’s virtual learning.
6. Due dates for assignments and assessments will be defined at the discretion of the teacher. 
7. All students participating in JVA will be expected to follow the student code of conduct.  Infractions may result in progressive disciplinary actions. 
8.   Participation in all virtual courses, including WVVS courses, requires students to participate
      in all teacher scheduled check-ins.
9. An understanding that based on the amount of student interest course availability at the secondary level in JVA may change. Additionally, based on enrollment, grade levels offered at the elementary level may change.
10. Students not meeting the JVA expectations for behavior, attendance, and grading may result in 
      a requirement to return to in-person instruction.
11. All students participating in JVA are required to attend an orientation session.
12. By registering for virtual classes you are agreeing to remain in JVA for the 2021-22 school year.

*Students not meeting participation requirements may be placed in the JVA based on the outcome of a SAT, 504, or an IEP meeting
