JVA Child Nutrition During Remote Learning

Child Nutrition Services will also continue during remote learning with weekly availability of multi-day meal packs at each school every Tuesday morning from 8:30 to 10:30. JCS bus drivers will also be contacting families to see if they need food for the week.  The drivers will deliver food to bus stops for any JCS student every Tuesday and Wednesday morning during remote learning. Jefferson Virtual Academy (JVA) students may request to pick up food at the nearest bus stop during remote learning as well.

LiveGrades is an online student grading system developed to meet the specific needs of school systems in West Virginia. The system allows students and families to access grades, assignments, key information, and effective communication all in one place.

Google Classroom is a tool that allows teachers to create an online classroom area. Teachers can use the Classroom tool to manage documents, develop and share calendars, assign work, share on-demand videos of lessons and other content, and interact directly with their students.

The state of West Virginia uses Microsoft Office as their official platform.  Every teacher and student in the state must have a Microsoft 365 account and it is the system that guarantees student data security from our state IT team.   TEAMS is one of the platforms that allow for live/real-time face to face instruction with teachers and social interaction for children. JCS has also purchased licenses for teachers to use Zoom. Security updates made by the company in light of its expanded use during remote learning across the country ensure that student information is stored and shared in compliance with privacy laws.
