What is the starting salary of a school bus operator?
The base starting salary of a school bus operator is $106.80 per day.

What are the hours of a school bus operator?
Most morning bus routes begin between 5:45 am and 7:00 am and end approximately 9:00 am. Drivers then have between a four and five hour break between 9:00 am and 2:00 pm, then return to begin the process of transporting students home. The majority of bus routes are complete by 4:30 pm

How do I get certified to become a school bus operator?
All required training will be provided:

* Commercial Drivers License (Classroom and Behind the Wheel) to include:
         General Knowledge
         Air Brakes
         "P" Passenger endorsement
         "S" School Bus endorsement
* West Virginia School Bus Operator Certification
* First Aid and CPR

What is the criteria for being considered as a school bus operator?
Under West Virginia law, an individual seeking to become a school bus operator MUST:
*     Successfully pass a pre employment drug and alcohol test
*     Successfully pass pre employment DOT physical exam
*     Have at least a high school diploma or GED/TASC
*     NOT have a felony conviction
*     Pass a background check (State/FBI)
*     Have a clean driving record
*     Be at least age 21 with 3 years driving experience
*     Be eligible to obtain a valid CDL permit
*     Must be able to successfully pass a physical performance exam

*     Social Security Card
*     Valid Drivers License
*     Current Driving Record
*     Copy of high school diploma or GED/TASC
