More Support for Serious Emotional Disorder

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- In a recent settlement with the State of West Virginia, the Department of Justice has reinforced what many in the education field already knew: students with severe emotional or behavioral disorders need to be better supported. As part of the settlement, the state has created a waiver program that will allocate money to expand services for these children in the communities where they live. This is an issue many of you hold near and dear to your hearts and can offer valuable insight into what kinds of services would benefit these students. Please take advantage of the public comment opportunity that is open until May 23, 2019.  Comments may be mailed to the Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) Unit at:
The Bureau for Medical Services
