South Jefferson Elementary School Roadrunners
South Jefferson Elementary was constructed in 1971. It consolidated
the three elementary schools of Summit Point, Middleway, and Rippon.
The building has had three additions since 1971 the first occurring in
1975 when the buildings current primary wing was extended. The second
addition occurred in 1985 when the current intermediate wing was
extended. Around 1990, a multi-purpose room and a computer lab were
added in the middle of the structure. The land was obtained through
Thomas Kern and was previously part of Pembroke Grove. On the property
there is a historical marker stating that South Jefferson's property is
part of Washington's Land. The property was originally a part of
Charles Washington's land.
