Welcome to JCS Television Comcast Cable Channel 19 in Jefferson County, WV | ![]() |
JCS Television began broadcasting on Comcast Cable Channel 19 on March 27, 2000. From the beginning, as an Electronic Bulletin Board, JCS-TV has evolved into a fully operational station with two studio facilities, remote capabilities, non-linear editing workstations, and a staff of 30+ Jefferson and Washington High School students, ranging from grades nine through twelve. In addition to the weekly JCS News programs, JCS Television regularly records Board of Education meetings, seasonal concerts (K-12), special programs, classroom activities, awards assemblies, and the Jefferson and Washington High School graduations.
Student staff members have the latitude to produce independent projects and special programs, including sports talk shows, debate talk shows, academic spotlights, music videos and dramatic productions. Jefferson County’s cable subscribers have grown to depend upon Channel 19 for school news and information pertaining to emergency or weather related school operations. The use of JCS Television as a public relations and informational tool has demonstrated the power and value of cable television to Jefferson County Schools. |
