TARA MAHONEY
Coordinator of Elementary Education: 3 - 5

Mrs. Mahoney holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Shepherd College, a Master of Arts degree in Elementary Education and a Professional Administrative Certificate from West Virginia University. Prior to becoming Coordinator of Elementary Schools Grades 3-5, she taught third and fourth grade, served as an elementary administrative intern and an assistant principal.

The Office of Elementary Education:

•Provides ongoing communication with principals and teachers in theareas of curriculum and instruction, grades 3 - 5.

•Provides support to new teachers and assigned mentors at each of thenine elementary sites through workshops, observations, conferencing,and securing instructional materials.

•Coordinates the state Character Counts initiative at the elementarysites, working with elementary counselors on classroom delivery ofessential elements of character pillars.
•Encourages and promotes parent and community clarity and involvementthrough daily communications representing the elementary educationprogram in Jefferson County Schools.
