Mr. Richard Jenkins, Principal

Mr. Richard J. Jenkins is entering his eighth year as the Principal of South Jefferson Elementary. Mr. Jenkins is a product of the Jefferson County School system and a graduate of Jefferson High School. Following high school, he attended Potomac State College, West Virginia University and Shenandoah University to obtain his teaching certification and a Masters Degree in Education Administration. Mr. Jenkins began his career as a teacher at Martinsburg High School where he taught Agricultural Education and Leadership courses for fifteen years. He then served as the Assistant Principal at Jefferson High School for five years prior to coming to South Jefferson as the Principal. He was recently awarded the 2012 Jefferson County "Principal of the year" award. Mr. Jenkins enjoys watching children grow and learn. He enjoys the community family atmosphere at South Jefferson. " I like to provide the tools for all staff and most importantly, the students to achieve their very best in a safe, secure and nurturing environment."

Ms. Keri Mahoney, Head Teacher

Ms. Mahoney, our Head Teacher, began her career at South Jefferson Elementary in 1997 as a third grade teacher after graduating from Shepherd University. She taught both third and fifth grade before obtaining her Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Shepherd University in 2006 and then her Administration certification from West Virginia University in 2007. Ms. Mahoney stepped into the role of Head Teacher in 2008. In her tenure, she has witnessed South Jefferson expanding from a school of 350 students to over 500 students and becoming the largest elementary school in Jefferson County. When asked about her job at South Jefferson, she states, "Every morning, when I walk through the doors of South Jefferson, I feel a sense of pride and love for the job that I do. I look at each student and staff member as an extended part of my family and I feel that I am blessed to be a part of South Jefferson Elementary".
