  • Driswood Elementary School Donates Bags

to Hospice of the Panhandle Patients

MARTINSBURG - For the second year in a row, students from Driswood Elementary School in Shenandoah Junction prepared more than 100 gift bags filled with hygiene items such as lotion, mouthwash, shampoo and lip balm, for Hospice of the Panhandle patients.

Each grade level was asked to provide one item for the gift bag and students from the fifth grade assembled the bags with colorful ribbons. Sarah Soltow, school counselor, coordinated the event and said staff also contributed items for the bags.

Karla Troppman, marketing coordinator, Hospice of the Panhandle, picked up the bags and will disperse to hospice nurses and social workers throughout Berkeley, Morgan, Jefferson and Hampshire counties to deliver to their patients this winter.

"The bags are filled with items that are very useful to patients receiving our care at home. Driswood Elementary School is to be commended for organizing such a meaningful project for Hospice of the Panhandle patients in the area."

Hospice of the Panhandle provides compassionate care to those with life-limiting illness and assists their families and caregivers. Hospice also strives to broaden community awareness about the end-of-life experience.
